Girls Gone Wild
Part 1
The Sinful Woman
Lk 7:36-50
By Brian Mills
in the 90’s a Mayor Hosted a Gala Public Reception @ White Point Gardens
This
was a party for distinct guest to attend…along w. the Governor and
everyone…
They were all their…
But there was also a girl named Anita who
wanted to attend…you see she might not have been Charleston’s (North Carolina)
finest but I will tell you this she was definitely the busiest…
You see Anita
was a prostitute on the streets of Charleston and was convicted of murder many
years before…

As she served her time and cleaned up her act the
Governor Pardoned her from her sentence…
she had never meet the Gov…so since
the Gov is in her town even though the mayor hates her…she was gong to go to the
party and meet him…

She didn’t care what the mayor thought of her,
let alone what the crowd though of her, but she cared very much what Gov
Sheppard might thing if he saw her…But either was she wanted to meet the man
that pardoned her doors…

To make a long story short…as she went to
the party….saw the Gov…begin to walk over to him….On her way over she saw the
Gov Son Jesse…who had health problems and was on his death bed…no one
wanted to even be around him…

So Jesse was setting in the lawn with
his shoes off by him self….

As Anita saw him she forgot a/b the gov
and walked over to him…she knew he recognized her…but it matter no
more…

He offered her a smile of forgiveness….She did not say a word
she just began to cry…she was so filled w. emotion…

I mean this
Jesse saw her yet did not see her for who she use to be but saw her for who she
was today…

By this time the Gov had seen her and began to
smile…

The Gov watched her as she got on her knees…and as teers of
hers went all over he son…

The mayor asked “Who is that slobbering
all over your son, Gof?” Then the mayor said that is Anita. I will
stop her I will get her out of her I’m so sorry Gov…

Gov said No
NEED….she is doing nothing wrong…The Gov said maybe she is show her gratitude in
some way…

The Mayer laughed….

The Gove looked at the
Mayer and said why do you laugh…not everyone is willing to talk more less touch
my son…besides look at her…she is so grateful to be forgiven….

The
Mayer said what I see is a woman making an utter fool of herself in
public…

The Gove looked at the mayor and said “ When I arrived for
this event, supposedly held in my honor, you didn’t even offer my son something
to drink. Yet this woman has showered his feet w. her tears. And
when someone splashed lemonade all over his hand, you laughed and left him
dripping. Yet she dried his wet feet w. her own precious hair. And
while you require me to listent o all your good deeds, she spoke not a word to
my son, only kissed his feet w. gratitude.

Like 7:36One of the Pharisees asked him (Jesus) over for a meal. He went to the Pharisee's house and sat down at the dinner table. 37Just then a woman of the village, the town harlot Other Translations call her: An especially wicked sinner, a notorious sinner, a cocial outcalls, devoted to sin or a certain immoral woman.

I. Jesus Welcomes Everyone
Back then the less fortunate were allowed to visit such public banquets in order to snatch up the leftovers…

Now most of them did not come until the party was over…

You will notice in this series and all through the bible as some of you take your notes home an under scripture….that Jesus only told Demons to flee from his presence…he did not tell the sinners…he welcomed them…
“having learned that Jesus was a guest in the home of the Pharisee, came with a bottle of very expensive perfume 38and stood at his feet, weeping, raining tears on his feet. Letting down her hair, she dried his feet, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfume.

39When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man was the prophet I thought he was, he would have known what kind of woman this is who is falling all over him." 40Jesus said to him, "Simon, I have something to tell you.""Oh? Tell me."41"Two men were in debt to a banker. One owed five hundred silver pieces, the other fifty. 42Neither of them could pay up, and so the banker canceled both debts. Which of the two would be more grateful?"43Simon answered, "I suppose the one who was forgiven the most.""That's right," said Jesus. 44Then turning to the woman, but speaking to Simon, he said, "Do you see this woman? I came to your home; you provided no water for my feet, but she rained tears on my feet and dried them with her hair. 45You gave me no greeting, but from the time I arrived she hasn't quit kissing my feet. 46You provided nothing for freshening up, but she has soothed my feet with perfume. 47Impressive, isn't it? She was forgiven many, many sins, and so she is very, very grateful. If the forgiveness is minimal, the gratitude is minimal."48Then he spoke to her: "I forgive your sins."

II. Jesus Knows our Needs
Jesus knew she did not need another verbal betting…He Knew she just need to let some things go….

He was just their for them…

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way
through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He
decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve
when a lovely young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal, he asked for a
drink of water. She thought he looked hungry and so she brought him a large
glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe
you?"
"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never
to accept pay for a kindness." He said, "Then I thank you from my heart." As
Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his
faith in God and man was strengthened also. He had been ready to give up and
quit.
Years later, that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors
were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in
specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the
consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, he went down the
hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown, he went in to
see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room
determined to do his best to save her life. From that day, he gave special
attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly
requested from the business office to pass the final billing to him for
approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was
sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest
of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her
attention on the side of the bill. She read these words:
"PAID IN FULL WITH
ONE GLASS OF MILK....
(Signed)Dr. Howard Kelly."

"I've yet to find the man, however exalted his station, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than under the spirit of criticism."SOURCE- Charles Schwab Brains, like hearts, go where they are appreciated.Source- Robert Mcnamara.

49That set the dinner guests talking behind his back: "Who does he think he is, forgiving sins!"50He ignored them and said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

III. Jesus Values Humility, not Pride (Lk 7:44-47)

Pride says, “Your too good for him.”
Shame says, “You’re to bad for him.”
Pride drives you away
Shame keeps you away

if pride is what comes before a fall, then shame is what keeps you from getting up after one.

Pride is what is keeping some of you from being at this alter…Pride is what is keeping some of you for standing for our Lord.

Our Wild Girl tonight had no more pride left…she was all out…

She did not care anymore…she was broken and humbled b/f God and she had no more Shame to go to him….

She knew Jesus would accept her…

Jesus Accepted her Humility…(her actions spoke volumes more than her words…she did not even speak)
