MTV VMA Host makes fun of Purity Rings

At the MTV VMA’s Russell Brand cracked several jokes about purity’s rings.

Here is a clip from this Article:

"While Brand’s political comments certainly brewed up a storm, what drew arguably the biggest response was Brand’s repeated jabs at the Jonas Brothers and the purity rings they wear as a symbol of their vow not to have premarital sex."

"The band of three brothers, whose father is a pastor, famously wear the rings on their left-hand ring finger to remind themselves of their "promise to ourselves and to God that we'll stay pure 'till marriage." They also abstain from alcohol, tobacco and drugs."

Purity is not a joke and if you are a parent this is a great time to bring up the topic. A lot of students are talking about this issue.

Here are some questions you might ask your teenager:
1. What did you think of the VMA’s
2. Did you like Russell Brand hosting?
3. What did you think about his comments about the Jones Brothers?
4. What do your friends say about what he said? Is purity a big deal in the school or do friends think it is a joke?
5. What do you think son/daughter?

Give them permission to respond…. You can never help your child unless you are willing to listen to your child

They were talking about this today on the radio (104 KRBE). They had a psychologist who was very encouraging about talking with your kids and the purity rings versus the promise rings. It was thrilling to see a secular station take a positive stand regarding this issue.

Also, what happened to Kenzie's blog? Is everything okay with them? Our family has been praying for them - and I noticed that her blog has disappeared.

the best part of the VMA's was Kanye West's performance at the end... the worst part was the host (what's with the accent?)
