What did we do with all the STICKY NOTES?

I preached a sermon (hear it here) from Matthew 9: 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

I wanted to challenge the students not to lose their heart for the Lost. I believe so much of our generation has lost their desire to reach out. We want to go “deeper” yet don’t want to win souls for Christ. This does not make sense to me!!!

For a visual to illustrate how many un-churched students we have in Middle TN we put a sticky note up to represent every student that lives within the reach of Long Hollow Student Ministry (35,000 sticky notes). We then put up a red strip of paper with no sticky notes on it to represent the 15% of students that actually attend church in our area.

We had sticky notes all over the whole room from the front to the back all over the stage (see pict here).

I believe the students got it!!! This was a visual I hope they will not forget when they go to school.

Does this cost much money? NO – about $100 and a lot of volunteers to make it happen, so it is the perfect illustration on a low budget.
