Wednesday Night Recap Punk'd Part 2 by Brian Mills

We are in a 4 part series called Punk'd. I am placing each week parts of the messages I do with the students. Please forgive any grammer, they are my raw notes.

This week we will talk about the family. The Family in America is under attack. My hope is we can challenge the teeangers to realize we are all on the same team. No one is perfect and we should all admit our faults but Satan is using our failures for his success. We don't have to allow this.

Here is part of what we talked about tonight. To get the whole message you can podcast it @ www.grandfamily.net/students

Don’t Be Punk’d @ Home
Part 2
By Brian Mills

I Peter 5:8

Read Gen 25 & 27
We all have heard the story of Jacob and Esau right? 27As the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open fields, while Jacob was the kind of person who liked to stay at home. (Mommas boy) 28Isaac loved Esau in particular because of the wild game he brought home, but Rebecca favored Jacob.29One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home exhausted and hungry from a hunt. 30Esau said to Jacob, "I'm starved! Give me some of that red stew you've made." 31Jacob replied, "All right, but trade me your birthright for it."32"Look, I'm dying of starvation!" said Esau. "What good is my birthright to me now?"33So Jacob insisted, "Well then, swear to me right now that it is mine." So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his younger brother. 34Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate and drank and went on about his business, indifferent to the fact that he had given up his birthright.
HOW NOT TO GET PUNKED @ HOME

Remember that your family is not the enemy.

Esau was the one everyone looked @ as the leader, the man of the house…which Jacob wanted…but Jacob was the goodie goodie….Jacob set it up and started a fight that should have never been stated…he made his family his enemy…

Satan is winning the battle in so many of your homes b.c we are letting him

YOUR FAMILY IS NOT THE ENEMY…YOUR MOM IS NOT YOUR ENEMY…YOUR DAD IS NOT YOUR ENEMY….

Remember that your family is your ally.

Allies help each other.

They watch each other back.

If you’re disrespecting your being punk’d and Satan is winning the battle…

Remember that your family is yours.

Jacob had to come back and realize this is my family…

One of the most important and influential parts of our lives can also be the hardest to live with – our family.

God created families and uses them as an illustration for how we belong to his family. The way we bring life to our family is by realizing that we can’t control our family, but we can control our attitude toward it.

Some of you need to do just like Jacob did in the story
If you read on in the story…it comes time for Jacob to reconcile w. Esau…but Jacob was scared…he had a huge family and had done well in life…but now…time to face the family that he had made his enemy….time to make things right…

To keep a long story short….as Jacob sent all his stuff to Esau to meet him and give to him to “33:8 find favor with him”

Esau looks at him and said. “33:9 “Jacob I already have plenty of favor for you my brother. Keep what you have for yourself.”

I wonder how many of you have done 1 of 2 things…

Wonder away from your family…your so disconnected that you don’t even talk to them…why not set down tonight and talk to them…don’t get punk’d it is your family
You’ve been running from God’s family….You’ve never given your life to Christ or never been baptized….
