Last night Dusty Stanfield and Charlie Ward gave me the great opportunity to speak at Coach Alan Wartes Air it out football camp. Coach Wartes has been doing this camp for over 20 years and all the Big 12 QB’s from this past year have gone through his camp.
This is his first year to bring it to Houston in which was a huge success. Dusty Stanfield and Charlie Ward help pull it together here in Houston. They brought in some great athletes from all over the make this an A+ experience for the HS students.
Damian Williams from USC was here, James Casey with the Texans, Christian Ponder FSU QB, WR from Rice University, Kevin Kold with the Eagles, Donnie Avery WR for St Louis, and many many others. All of these men I had the chance to be around and they all excel in character and excellence in life and football. They are all great examples for these young men.
Last night when I spoke to the Students, College Players and NFL guys I talking about what a true champion looks like. Champions are built when no one else is looking. As we broke it down I ended my talking in having Damian Williams come up and tell his story towards the end. I had the privilege of knowing Damian when he was a 9th grader and now to see him excelling in Football and gaining great influence yet using that influence for the Glory of God is a real honor.
