Raising the bar in Southern Baptist Student Ministries!

Each year I receive a list of the top 100 baptism’s in Southern Baptist Churches for the past year.  Every year I notice as long as you baptize over 35 students a year then you make the top 100. 

Here is what concerns me. 

With 16 million members in 45,764 churches.  WOW.  Think if all those churches just baptized 12 students a year for the first time.  We would reach 549,168 students who had given their life to Christ, baptized and hopefully plugged into church. 

If you take the top 100 churches in student baptism it equals 8,995.  Then take 45,664 other churches baptizing 12 a year you would get 556,963 baptisms a year in student baptism out of all the Southern Baptist Churches. 

The future would be different because the leaders of it would be changed by the Gospel!!!! 

You say Brian you're all about the numbers.  Well, each number represents a future leader of America, teacher, coach, dad, mom, business leader and I am praying that they have surrendered their life over to Jesus Christ and lead according to the Word of God one day. 

They can’t do that if we are not giving them the chance.  Most churches are baptizing from 0-10 a year.  I want to throw out the challenge for all churches that are baptizing 0-12 to baptize 1 a month.  Reach 1 kid a month and do 12 year. 

If your baptizing 0-12 make your goal 12 a year.  1 a month. 

If your baptizing 12-20 make your goal 24 a year.  2 a month. 

If your baptizing 20 or more make your goal 36+ for the year. 3+ a month

And so on…… 

The important part is to set goals!!!  

YES THIS TAKES WORK!!!  I believe we as the church can do this though.  Let’s not give up, but let’s keep going for it.
