Helps on How to date in a Social Media World

Long Hollow Students - Here is the last part of the message tonight where i gave you helps on Dating in a Social Media World.

To hear the whole Sermon GO HERE

1.     Online is not to exploit relationships

Stay Away from the online relationship game.  You will have healthier relationship.  - Galatians 1:10 - 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ

2.     Don’t upload all your “sexy” pictures
keep things about your self private – Honor yourself (I Cor 6:19-20 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

3.     Develop accountability –
Not just a friend who will say whatever but someone who truly cares.  You might even need to ask a parent / small group leader if it is a good idea to post “that.”  Ecc 4:9-10 9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.)

4.     Facebook and Twitter are not your journals.  #buyajournal - Don’t post all your emotions on the internet.  (PS 55:22 22 Cast your cares on the LORD
   and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.– we should not put our emotions out there for the World but turn to our God.

5.     It is OK not to respond.
Eph 4:29 – 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

6.     Mystery is good –
You don’t have to be a creeper all the time. - SS 2:7 “Young women of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and the wild does of the field: do not stir up or awaken love until the appropriate time.”

7.     There no shame in Deactivating your facebook/twitter acct for a while if you feel as if you have a series problem.  II Tim 2:22  22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart
